TWD: Chocolate Oatmeal Drops

I love me some cookies that I can rationalize. These have oatmeal in them. They're healthy. And you don't have to wait for butter to come to room temp, so they are easy as well. Sounds like a winner!

See, oatmeal. Right on top there. Well, you can sort of see. It's a little blurry...

These cookies had a combo of cocoa powder and melted bittersweet chocolate. These were deeply flavored. Dorie says they're sort of a brownie/cookie. She's right on the money.

I thought these were easy to put together. Apparently, though, I didn't beat up the liquid ingredients quite enough. I had a little butter separation while the dough was waiting to be scooped. It didn't really affect much as far as I can tell. The edges were a bit lacy in some cases - as if they had been fried a bit - but the taste was still delicious. I'd love to try these again.

More goofy kids with goofy photos. Clearly, these were a hit.

Thank you Caroline and Claire of Bake With Us for letting me try this fabulous recipe.

I like the sound of lacy edges - crispy plus chewy in the one cookie sounds great.

My dough was oily so I guess I had some better separation, too. Yours look like they turned out and the kids look happy in the pictures.

Haha, the oatmeal cancels out all the sugar, butter and chocolate right?! These were a hit with my kids, too!

My, your kids are enjoying those cookies! My group at work, particularly the chocoholics, were wolfing them down.

They were definitely a hit at your house! My batter didn't separate, but the cookies came out pretty thin. Still chewy and tasty though.

Jules, your cookies look wonderful and if the children's faces are any indication, they are delicious as well. This is my first visit to your blog so I've spent some time browsing through your earlier entries. I really like the food and recipes you feature here and I'll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

I skipped these because so many people were not thinking they were that great, but now I am thinking I should maybe go back and make them as if The Boy and The Girl liked them so much, chances are extremely high that the crew here will as well. The Boy and The Girl are growing up so quickly! Great photos of them, cuties they are, yes, they are!!
