Totally quick post here - I made the cake last week. It's a good cake, but for my money, it was a bit fussy. The recipe has us separate the eggs, beat the egg whites, and fold them in to the rest of the batter. (On a side note - I discovered that my new mixer is TOO BIG to only whip two egg whites) I have another blueberry cake that I love a bit more that has fewer steps. I also didn't seem to have the sinking problem that other people had. Not sure why.
Still, this one was tasty. Not sure that I'll be making it again, though. Thanks Cindy of Everyday Insanity for choosing such a seasonal cake.
Looks lovely in the pan.

I bet the sleep was needed! glad you enjoyed the cake. Can't wait to make it
yes the egg whites were a bit fussy weren't they? oh well i still enjoyed this one!
I wasn't expecting to like this one so much but I figured it was post or get kicked out...lol...we've been a tad busy with graduation and making party food and all and TWD has sort of taken a back burner, but I'm back before you had time to oust me!! Whew! Anyway, we really liked it. Yours looks nice, sorry it wasn't a hit because if we do fussy then it should be a hit, right?
Can't wait to try your favorite recipe. Thanks for playing along with me. Yes it was a little fussy. But sometimes I enjoy seeing egg whites turn magical! Have a great day.
I was sad when I saw that we had to whip egg whites, but it wasn't too bad overall. My berries didn't sink either, but I don't know why!
i was actually surprised to see in the instructions for "plain cake" that we made to make a meringue! not that it was hard, but... i've been wanting to try that boy bait recipe for awhile, btw
I have to admit, I was expecting a one-bowl type recipe. Luckily, the eggs didn't take too long. I'll have to check out your favorite cake.
Yes, I didn't understand the need to separate the egg whites. But the cake was tasty. Glad you enjoyed it!
